Question

How can I install and link FTK Web Viewer to my existing FTK environment?

Prerequisites

  • An existing FTK environment, with a standard FTK license, using MSSQL or PostgreSQL
Note: If FTK is using PostgreSQL, you will also need to install MSSQL Express for some of the Web Viewer/Summation databases.
  • Summation Pro installation media
    • The Summation Pro installer can be obtained by contacting AccessData Support
  • A "service" account, with local Administrator permissions, that the FTK Web Viewer services will run under

Note: At least the first two version numbers of both Summation and FTK must be the same.  For example, Summation 6.0.x should be used with FTK 6.0.x.

Notes

  • FTK Web Viewer must be installed on the FTK machine, and it must have a local FTK license.
  • If any cases are not using UNC for both their case folders and evidence paths, they may not work correctly in the Summation/FTK Web Viewer.  You can fix these paths using FTK.
  • Application Administrators created in FTK will automatically be Administrators in the Summation/FTK Web Viewer.
  • Case Reviewers created in FTK will have access to the same assigned cases in Summation/FTK Web Viewer.
  • If you are using FTK Web Viewer, without a full Summation Pro license, user accounts can only be managed from FTK itself.
  • If you're using MSSQL, it is recommended to set FTK to create each case in its own database
