Problem

The Standard Viewer either fails to display anything or displays a message to install Adobe Flash Player when accessing Summation Pro from Windows Server 2012.

Resolution for Server 2012

Add the Desktop Experience feature:

  1. Open Server Manager.
  2. Click the Manage pulldown (top-right) and choose Add Roles and Features.
  3. If the Before you begin page appears, click Next; otherwise, skip this step.
  4. Choose Role-based or feature-based installation and click Next.
  5. Choose the server you want to install the feature to and click Next.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Expand the User Interfaces and Infrastructure Feature and select the checkbox next to Desktop Experience.
  8. A pop-up window will appear. Click the Add Features button.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Install.
  11. When the installation is complete, reboot the server.

Resolution for Server 2016

Enable Adobe Flash:

  1. Open a Command Prompt with Run as administrator
  2. Run the following command: dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"C:\Windows\servicing\Packages\Adobe-Flash-For-Windows-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.14393.0.mum"
  3. When the installation is complete, reboot the server.
