Enable Network Discovery and File Sharing in Windows

Introduction: The AccessData Agent requires network discovery and file sharing to be enabled.  The following will explain how to do this.

 

Procedure:

Windows XP:

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Click on Tools > Folder Options.
  3. Select the View tab and scroll to the bottom of the list.
  4. Deselect "Use simple file sharing"
  5. Click "Apply to All Folders", then Apply and OK.

Windows Vista and Newer:

  1. Open the Control Panel and select "Network and Internet".
  2. Select "Network and Sharing Center". 
  3. Select "Change advanced sharing settings" near the upper-left.
  4. Expand the type of network for which you'd like to change the settings.
  5. Select "Turn on network discovery.
  6. Select "Turn on file and printer sharing".
  7. Click "Save changes" then "OK".
