Problem

WCFTrace logging is a diagnostic tool that can sometimes be enabled inadvertently during an installation or upgrade of Summation Pro and can quickly fill up disk space on the volume where the MAP component has been installed.

Resolution

The following procedure will disable the logging:

  1. Open the web.config file for MAP (typically in the path "C:\Program Files\AccessData\MAP\").
  2. Locate the section below:
    <system.diagnostics>
       <trace autoflush="true" />
          <sources>
             <source name="System.ServiceModel" switchValue="Information, ActivityTracing" propagateActivity="true">
                <listeners>
                   <add name="traceFile" type="System.Diagnostics.XmlWriterTraceListener" initializeData="WCFTrace.svclog" />
                </listeners>
             </source>
          </sources>
       </system.diagnostics>
  3. Comment this section out by adding the tags "<!--" and "-->" to the section (see below).
    <!-- <system.diagnostics>
       <trace autoflush="true" />
          <sources>
             <source name="System.ServiceModel" switchValue="Information, ActivityTracing" propagateActivity="true">
                <listeners>
                   <add name="traceFile" type="System.Diagnostics.XmlWriterTraceListener" initializeData="WCFTrace.svclog" />
                </listeners>
             </source>
          </sources>
       </system.diagnostics> -->
  4. Delete the WCFTrace.svclog file in the MAP folder (again, typically in the path "C:\Program Files\AccessData\MAP\").
