Email by Date Facet: What do "Submitted", "Delivered" Mean vs. Searching ReceivedDate and SentDate?

Problem

Questions have arisen surrounding the differences in result sets associated with searching and/or filtering these facets and fields.

Resolution

In Summation:

The "SentDate" field corresponds to the 'Submitted' radio button in the "Email By Date" facet
The "ReceivedDate" field corresponds to the 'Delivered' radio button in the "Email By Date" facet.

There is a difference in functionality between the "Submitted" part of the "Email By Date" facet and the "SentDate" field:

The SentDate/ReceivedDate field - using either column's filter in the grid view - will show the emails grouped with their attachments in the filter dialog box and will return both emails and their attachments.

The SentDate/ReceivedDate field - searched outright - and the facet will return both emails and their attachments.

To only return email messages from the Submitted/Delivered facets, please set the File Category facet to only return Email Messages.  To do this:  Under the 'File' > 'File Category' facet click the 'Only' link next to the 'Email' checkbox and click the green check icon.

Please NOTE: failing to deselect the 'N/A' option will lead to unexpected records appearing in the result set.
