Update CodeMeter License

Introduction: The following will allow you to update the licenses on a CodeMeter dongle ("Refresh Device").

 

Prerequisites:

  • Install the latest release of CodeMeter Runtime (link here)
  • Install the latest release of License Manager (link here)

If your forensic PC is offline, you will need access to a PC that is online and also has CodeMeter and License Manager installed.

 

Procedure:

If your PC is online (USB or VCM):

  1. Ensure the physical or virtual CodeMeter (VCM) dongle is connected
  2. Open License Manager
  3. From the Licenses tab, click "Refresh Device"
  4. When prompted, click "Yes" to proceed with the update

 

If your PC is offline (VCM):

Offline PC:

  1. Ensure the CodeMeter dongle is connected
  2. Open License Manager
  3. From the Licenses tab, click "Save to File"
  4. Save the resulting PKT file
  5. Transfer the PKT file to the online PC

Online PC:

  1. Disconnect all dongles
  2. Open License Manager
  3. At the error reporting "No Security Device Found!", click "OK"
  4. Select "Open A Packet File" and click "OK"
  5. Browse to the PKT file and click "Open"
  6. Under the License tab, click "Refresh Device"
  7. When prompted, select "Yes" to save the packet file to a new location
  8. Save the resulting WIBUCMRAU file
  9. Transfer to WIBUCMRAU file to the offline PC

Offline PC:

  1. Ensure the appropriate CodeMeter dongle is connected
  2. Double-click the WIBUCMRAU file
  3. When prompted, click "Yes" to transfer the contents and update the CodeMeter dongle

 

NOTE: for the purposes of "AccessData eDiscovery" and "Summation Pro", "Forensic PC" signifies the eDiscovery/Summation Pro processing server.
